Benny-D. “The One to Watch” - Official Site www.DJBennyDFanSite.TV

Sporting a personality as vibrant as his native Virgin Islands, Benny-D. is globally known as an entertainer extraordinaire. Acknowledged as a first-class producer, writer, DJ and rapper, he has stamped his own ticket to success. He has thousands of fans in over 180 countries and also has a clear passion for using his celebrity status and resources to enrich the lives of others. Having grown up knowing what a struggle it could be to recognize your dreams first-hand, Benny-D. has vowed to give opportunities to youth he could only dream about at their ages.
Flamboyant and energetic in his own performances, Benny-D. has quietly contributed to the success of numerous other popular artists.
Anyone may well be familiar with his work with other celebrities such as Akon, Rock City, Tabi Bonney, Kardinall Offishall, Sunny Valentine, A. Leon Craft, Ray Lavender, Sol Messiah, Organized Noise and Fish Scales of Nappy Roots to name a few. However, life didn’t always have superstars checking for his beats. Though Benny-D. first touched the “wheels of steel” at the tender age of nine, it was his hard hustle and sleepless grind that took him from the island clubs of the VI to the world-wide, sold-out stages of Germany, LA, NY, Africa, Paris, Uganda and so many others. He learned the DJ’ing “tricks of the trade” under the relentless coaching of his brother Francis, and set the tone as he developed his enviable production skills. As a youth, he made sacrifices in the name of realizing his dreams that today he feels a teenager should never have to know.
Thankful for every life lesson he’s received, Benny-D. fast-forwarded to 2001 when he met a major goal of purchasing an MPC drum machine.
Accordingly, he was able to produce tracks for the rap group 2EKWHIP (now Rock City; “Bang It”, “Green Grass”, “Do What U Want To”, the whole “It’s Official” album), for which he became the personal DJ. The group’s popularity grew so fast they quickly became a household name in the islands and in solid rotation on the airwaves. The trio set sail for Atlanta, Georgia and hit the music scene hard. Benny-D.’s talent, however, hit the area with such force that he was sought out by Universal’s groundbreaking R&B artist Akon of Locked Up fame. Akon and the label execs were so impressed with his production skills, fast-tracked his song Don’t Let Up to appear on Akon’s multi-platinum CD, “Trouble” (over 3 million sold world wide). From that point on, Benny-D. has been the Music Director and exclusive DJ for Akon. Shortly thereafter, he contributed the single Once in a While to Akon’s follow-up 5X platinum CD, “Konvicted”. Benny-D. produced the first single Syce It from DC rapper Tabi Bonney’s debut album “Dope Meets Fresh…Fresh Meets Super Star”. He also co-executive produced the artist Savage’s album “Savage Island” for Universal Republic, for which he contributed the tracks Rock ‘n Sway and I Love the Islands featuring Rock City.
Benny-D. has gone on to become world renown as a highly energetic entertainer who never fails to mesmerize his audience with a distinct mastery of “mixing it up” and engaging stage show.
He has made numerous TV appearances including Jimmy Kimmel Live; The Ellen Degeneres Show; 106 & Park; Regis & Kelly; Craig Kilborn; Nokia Unwired; Hard Rock Live; MTV Europe Awards; Source Awards; AOL Sessions and the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France. He has appeared on stages for the BET Awards, MTV Discover & Download; Gwen Stefani and Akon’s US Tour; American Music Awards, Akon and Rihanna’s Canadian Tour, Akon and Wyclef’s Canadian Tour; the Rock Corp Performance in Los Angeles; the Much Music Awards in Toronto, Canada and the career-affirming Soul Train. Soon, fans can also catch Benny-D. on the silver screen in his acting debut with a cameo appearance in the Dwayne Boyd movie “4 Minutes”.
No stranger to international destinations, Benny-D. has built a loyal, global following.
He’s performed in countries such as Africa (Senegal, Gabon, Ghana, Uganda, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Liberia); South Africa (Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town); South America (Guyana, Brazil); Germany; London; Scotland; Ireland; Romania; Poland; Japan; China; Switzerland; Sweden; New Zealand; Australia; Antigua; Barbados; Paris and Holland. Definitely a breakout as a DJ and a “full on” entertainer, Benny-D. has also graced the pages of world-wide magazines including VIBE, Loud, Core, Parle’, Word on the Streets, The New Vision Newspaper and Rap Pages. With skills as critical as those of a stealth bomber, Benny-D. has frequently been called upon for use as a secret weapon by industry insiders. He has worked with labels such as Universal Records, Konvict Muzik, Sony Music and SRC Records. He was called upon for his production expertise to contribute to the score of Midway Games NBA Ballers series. Responsible for the theme music of MBC Networks 2002-03 Black College Football and Basketball Season, he also created their slogan “Play Hard, Play Tough”.
Aside from all of his celebrity performances, Benny-D. enjoys a very philanthropic side as well.
He has been acknowledged by many in his homeland for the great contributions he has made there, including personally sponsoring the Virgin Island’s Men’s All Star Basketball Game, and taking Akon and Rock City to St. Thomas and St. Croix to visit children in local schools and spread inspiration to those at the juvenile detention center. Keeping true to his word, he will continue to be instrumental in giving a hand up to the next generation of aspiring stars and leaders with the founding of his non-profit organization, Benny-D.’s Super Kidz. It is selflessness and commitment such as this that caused him to be recognized by VI leadership and garnered him a personal invitation to the 2009 Virgin Islands Senate Presidential Inauguration.
Always one to stay on the minds, hearts and tongues of his fans, Benny-D. has launched the website www.djbennydfansite.tv with Virgin Islands Expert Web Developer & Web Designer Cheavor Duggins.
Utilizing cutting edge technology and perks such as pod casts, blogs and video; this is his way of giving his fans around the world the inside scoop and the opportunity to connect with each other as they stay in the loop watching him globe-trot from continent to continent. He also continues to re-invest in his homeland, as he is co-owner of Tropical Styles Sneaker and Cap Store in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Fans and music lovers alike can expect even bigger things from Benny-D. in the very near future. As he gains more momentum, always remember he’s not just the DJ…he’s THE EXTREME ENTERTAINER; otherwise known as “the one to watch”.
